The demo is out! What's next?


Hello everyone! As you've probably noticed, we just released the demo for Demeter: The Harvest Dies With You, my Greek mythology visual novel about the tale of Demeter's search for her missing daughter.

I want to thank all those who've played it, and especially those who shared, left reviews and donated! You have no idea how much that means to us.

So, now that that's done you may be wondering: What's next? When is the full version coming out?

For starters, I need to announce... that this will be my first commercial project! This means that the final game won't be free, but I still want to make it affordable! It's scary to dip my toes into commercial games for the first time, but I want to give it my all!

Regarding the full version, we don't know when it will come out yet, as I need to gather enough funds to be able to pay my team. With this being a commercial game, I must take into account what I can afford and limit my use of resources. It’s been a challenge, but it’s also been fun!

However… my current funds aren’t enough to finance the making of the whole game. So I had to think about how to handle it… and I had some ideas!

Funding

To fund my game, I’m setting up a Ko-fi donation goal! Anything you donate through Ko-fi will count towards the making of the game. But there’s also another option: I’m opening commissions again! And this time, you can do it directly through Ko-fi, so your commission payment will go straight into the funds for the game!

Now, how much do I need?

For the most basic version of the game, I’m going to need $3,500 USD. These funds will allow me to pay the following:

Initial Goals ($3.500 USD): Original character designs; CG art; Background art; Original UI; Game programming

Why do I consider this the 'most basic' version of the game? Well, that’s because it’s not my ideal version—but it would nonetheless be a complete and enjoyable story. 

Stretch Goals

To be able to afford the making of Demeter, I had to sacrifice some much-desired features and assets. However, should the funding goal be reached—or even surpassed—it may well be possible to enhance the experience and turn it into the game of my dreams! 

What would these additions be?

Stretch Goals: More CGs; Partial voice acting; Original music; More character designs & sprites (no more silhouettes!); Hiring a sound designer; A Spanish translation; And something secret~

I’m not going to get overly hopeful that we'll meet these stretch goals, but if you love the sound of these features, then you can help make them a reality! Even the smallest donation helps us progress towards our goal, and if you aren't in a position to donate, you can still support us in equally wonderful ways. By sharing the game, rating it and leaving reviews, you'll help us grow Demeter's reach to a wider audience than ever before!
